Let’s Talk Smart Cameras
Hey, so if you’ve been thinking about getting a security camera for your home, especially wireless ones, they’ve gotten really good lately. Like, super advanced. You can just put them up, and boom, you’re watching your place easily. No messy wires or anything. They’re all smart now with AI and connect to the cloud. There are tons of options out there, no matter what you need or how much you want to spend. I thought I’d tell you about some of the popular ones right now, the ones people really like.
First up, there’s the Arlo Pro 5 Ultra. This one is pretty much top-tier. If you want the absolute best picture quality, like super clear 4K video, this is it. It’s got all the fancy smart features too. It’s for people who really want a complete security system and don’t mind spending a bit more. You might need a subscription for everything, just so you know. Expect to pay around $200 to $250 for one camera.
Then there’s the Eufy SoloCam S40. What’s cool about this one is it has a solar panel built right in. That means it charges itself in the sun, so you pretty much never have to take it down to charge the battery. It’s awesome for outside and you don’t have to pay monthly fees for the basic stuff. Just make sure it gets enough sunlight where you put it. These usually go for about $150 to $180.
If you’re already a big Google Home user, the Google Nest Cam (Battery) is probably your best bet. It hooks up perfectly with Google Home and your Assistant. It gives you smart alerts, and it just works really well. You can use it inside or outside, which is super flexible. It’s usually around $170 to $200 per camera.
Oh, and if you’re deep into the Ring world, like you have a Ring doorbell already, check out their Stick Up Cam Pro. It’s part of that whole Ring family. It’s really good at spotting motion and gives you a wide view of things. Super flexible with how you power it too, inside or out. Great if you already have other Ring devices. These are typically priced around $160 to $190.
Now, if you’re on a budget but still want something good, the Wyze Cam v4 Pro is amazing. Wyze is known for being super affordable. This one is a great entry-level camera, especially for inside. It even has 2K color night vision, which is wild for its price. And smart AI detection! It’s usually only about $40 to $60. Can’t beat that.
Another one I hear good things about is the Reolink Argus 3 Pro. This one’s tough and works really well on its own. It gives you clear 2K video and even has good color night vision. It’s perfect if you need a camera in a spot where there’s no power outlet nearby, especially if you add their solar panel. You can store recordings locally too. These are typically around $100 to $130.
Last but not least, for indoor use, there’s the TP-Link Tapo C225. This camera can pan and tilt, so it can look all around your room, which is super handy. It’s got smart detection too. But the best part, if you’re worried about privacy, is it has a physical cover for the lens. You can literally block the camera when you want. It’s usually in the $60 to $80 range.
